Autopsy to be conducted on Nigerian billionaire

Lulu Briggs NnThe late High Chief Olu Benson LuLu-Briggs
The long-awaited autopsy of Nigerian politician and billionaire, High Chief Olu Benson LuLu-Briggs will now be conducted in Accra.

Controversy struck sometime after the death (in December 2018) of the oil magnate and political legend when cordiality between his son and his wife by ordinance broke down.

According to reports, the burial of the late Lulu-Briggs who cultivated high profile relationships in Ghana was delayed when his son was due to run for office as governor of River State in Nigeria during the just-ended elections.

At some point, a report was made to the Nigerian police about complicity in potential man-slaughter in the death of the famed oil magnate.

Given that the body of chief Lulu Briggs was still in Ghana, the Nigerian police sought the cooperation of the Ghanaian CID to help resolve the issues.

After a series of meetings with lawyers from all parties, the director-general of the CID directed that the autopsy be conducted by Col Dr Attoh who is head of Department of Anatomy at the 37 Military Hospital.
A letter dated July 17, 20019 and signed by ACP Isaac Quist, the Director of Administration of the CID, was written to the lawyers to that effect.

The process will, however, be observed by Prof’s Adotala Daramola and Agyeman Badu Akosa both consultant pathologist as well as Dr Emeka Nwafo also a pathologist from Nigeria.

The police expect that the outcome of the autopsy will pave way for the resolution of all issues surrounding the death of the man who made Ghana his second home and met his death during one of his regular visits to Ghana.

The Rivers State-born billionaire, who was the founder and chairman of Moni Pulo Limited, an oil exploration and production company, died on December 27, 2018, in Accra, Ghana at the age of 89.
